About Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske

Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske was elected to the Long Beach City Council in 2006 to a four-year term of office. The 5th Council District is the largest council district in the City comprising more than 11.5 square miles. It is the largest because it has the least density of homes, apartments and/or condominiums. Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske is the only member of the Long Beach City Council to utilize a blog. She hopes that you will keep reading it as she writes about her experiences in local government.

Several Important Community Meetings Planned for Next Week

Residents are invited to the following important community meetings;

Friday, February 15 — Traffic Improvements Related to Lakewood Mall COSTCO project. We will discuss what has been proposed to mitigate the impact of traffic on the Lakewood Village area due to the proposed COSTCO store in the Lakewood Mall. Location: Mark Twain Elementary School Auditorium. Time: 6 pm

Wednesday, February 20 — How to Avoid Foreclosure Workshop. Experts on real estate, lending and your legal rights to avoid foreclosure will help residents learn what can be done to avoid foreclosure. Location: El Dorado Senior Center Bridge Room, 2800 Studebaker Road, Long Beach. Time: 5:30 pm.

Thursday, February 21 — Small Business Advisory Committee. Businesses will get an update on how to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Location: Parks and Recreation Conference Room, 2760 Studebaker Road, Long Beach. Time: 7:00 pm.
