Walmart (not being happy with representative government in the City of Long Beach, where the voters can decide if they don’t approve of what the City Council does or doesn’t do by voting them out of office) has launched an effort to nullify the Council’s vote on prohibiting “superstores” which also sell groceries from being […]

Thanks to the residents living adjacent to a proposed “river walk” in the El Dorado Park South area for turning out to the public meeting on the three proposals on where the walk way should go and should end.

Less than a dozen members of the public attended — it was beautiful day outside and the topics were: should the City continue to […]

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

Just a glimpse at the schedule I keep as a member of the City Council. I have to turn down many invitations — and try to focus on events and issues in the 5th District. If I need to, I send staff to cover an event I am not able to attend.

Monday: I worked my […]

Diversity in the Arts

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Long Beach has a diverse art community. Earlier this week I met with Lee Shoag who heads the Rancho Los Cerritos Foundation and heard his presentation on how the the historic site is being upgraded. This site, near the Virginia Country Club, is utilized to educate 4th graders (and us older folk) on early California […]
